Seventeen people are injured, some seriously, after a tourist train overturned at the Feria de Cártama festival in southern Spain. Sources confirm the train, a small road-rail vehicle used to ferry visitors around the fairground, toppled over in the midst of crowds at around 9pm local time. Emergency services rushed to the scene in the Málaga province town.
Among the injured are British nationals. The Foreign Office confirmed it is offering consular support. Local reports say children are among the casualties.
The driver of the train has been detained for questioning. Investigators are looking into possible mechanical failure or human error. One witness told local media: "
It was chaos. People screaming. The train just tipped over."
The festival has been suspended.
