A timelapse video of the Southern Lights, captured from a British satellite orbiting the Earth, has been released by the UK Space Agency. The footage, recorded by the satellite's onboard camera over several hours, shows the aurora australis as a shimmering green and red curtain of light above the Antarctic continent. The satellite, part of a joint mission between the UK Space Agency and the European Space Agency, is equipped with advanced sensors designed to study atmospheric phenomena.
Scientists hope the data from this timelapse will help improve models of solar wind interactions with Earth's magnetosphere. The release of this footage underscores the UK's continued investment in space-based research and its role in global scientific collaboration.
